The four strategy types
Price strategies demand a ruthless approach to supply chain management and marketing’s job is to facilitate easy purchasing and communicate simply, the total price advantage. But remember; in each market segment, there is only one price leader, and thanks to the Internet, it’s easier to find that supplier than ever before.
Product strategies offer good products and services at fair prices. Many companies still fall into this category but beware… buyers today are behaving more and more like consumers, either going for the very best price or for unique value-added features that they can pass on to their customers. The middle market, so important to economic and social development in the last 50 years is fading away – don’t get caught out!
