Big pharmaceutical companies are restructuring their businesses, throughout the value chain, including R&D. Costs are soaring and the whole process is becoming increasingly complex. The goal is to simplify the discovery of new drugs. Current options include restructuring into specific research units, outsourcing and in-licensing of compounds and platforms where appropriate.
