Has your company reached Project Management Maturity?

Five short questions will help determine approximately where you are in terms of “Project Management Maturity” using the industry’s standard model. The model is based on a 5-point scale:

How good is your company at project management?
Does your company use proven methods, tools and techniques in project management?
Do you have project management policies and do your employees stick to them?
Is there strong direction and governance in your project management?
Is your company structurally organized to support project management?
Depending on your answers, you can get a quick idea of how your company deals with projects. Are they a strong part of implementing strategy or something that gets in the way of the “real work”?

Getting things done
If, like the majority of companies, you are still in the early stages of developing Project Management excellence, you will know that you have to improve your performance. A recent CBP survey1 showed that almost 90% of organizations are still at level 1 or 2 on the Project Management Maturity scale. Research has now verified what appears to be self-evident, namely that the higher the organization’s project maturity level, the higher its performance levels and business contribution – especially when it comes to customer satisfaction!
